I am trying a small test patch of dwarf essex rape. You can see a photo in my grower diary. It is cheap: $1.50 per pound and 4 pounds plants a whole acre. It takes some frost but will winter kill. I like the fact that it comes on fast and chokes out weeds. And there is no problem planting it. Just broadcast it and it will grow. Deer do eat it. I used some that I had left over from a deer plot.
