I should say newbie fall fertilizing question.

The weather here is starting to cool down a bit at night. Falling into the mid to low 50s. While the daytime temps are still pushing to close to 80. How should I be fertilizing now? Cutting back? Increasing? Stopping? Also how to proceed as temps fall even lower in October. I have another fruit on the vine, less than a month, pushing 50" in cir. growing 2 inches a day, Would like to get all I can out of this one.

Thanks for the help,

Steve

hey stevo,i think by oct 5th she should be on the front lawn to show off :)...i just blew up a little one this week (using her as a saftey valve,in case i over fertilize too much or alot of rain)i never had one blow up that bad,so i'll be stoping.keeping my fingers crossed to see if she's gonna make it to oct5 weigh off....good luck

hi michele,it means a pumpkin out grew it self(cracks, splits).looks like some one put a m80 in it.look at Ken D diary and you will what i'am talking about:)i try to prevent it by leaving two pumpkins on...to much water or fertitizer at one time will do it..

Stevo,
To try and answer you may be a little tough. What does your soil need is what most growers would ask you. Get a soil test and find out what your soil needs and add it. Your soil is different them mine so I can't help you. Do you understand what I'm saying.

Steve,
Sorry didnt read your hole post, thought you were asking what to add in the fall to the patch. I still have 2 0n and have cut back on everthing inclueding water. To stop them from blowing up.
