Which foliar fertilizers are better? the soluable fish and seaweed from Holland's or Neptunes liquid from Seedoutlet. would you recommend the biomin calcium and the nutri-aid booster and finisher from Holland's.This will be my first year, and i needed some input on foliar's and if i should use the booster and calcium. thanks for any input!

I have used both Neptune's and Holland's products. Now I only use Joel's powders. For shipping, mixing and application, I find that the powders work better for me. They go a long way as well.
I also like that you can add the powder directly into the soil before planting and you do not saturate the soil. As far as foliar application, you mix as you need with very little mess.
I use the Biomin calcium as well. An exvellent product- and this goes a loooong way. I would err on the side of a weak solution and apply a little more often. My first year with this stuff, I mixed too strong, and I did burn leaves. I have never used the booster.
Hope this helps.

Joe, a soil test through C&J products followed by Craig's pumpkin feeding program would be a big plus. Craig is very helpful, and if you can't afford the whole feeding program, he can advise you on which products you need the most based on your soil test.

We use a soluble seaweed called Nature's Essence from Organic Approach. I really like it, it's cold pressed to retain all essential nutrients. Good product.

Joe,

The choices to be made from one year to the next will monumental the longer you pursue this hobby. There will be a lot of advice given by many different growers based on the advice they were given and their personal successes.

There will come a time when you have the basics figured out and will want to tweak things a bit from one year to the next. Also, you will make choices based on what makes sense.

Just be happy this year to grow one that makes it to a weigh-off. Disappointment and failure are an inherent part of this hobby.

Follow the recommendations of a good soil test and keep the plants insect and fungus-free.

Having said all this, I WILL say that I agree with Craig. A daily, light feeding with a proven product is a plus. The whole concept of growin' 'em big is based on keeping your plants healthy until weigh-off time.
