Is the nitrogen in blood meal readily available to the plant the moment it is applied or does the soil biology have to convert it to be usable to the plant first. If so approximately how long would the conversion take in warm soil? Also from what I have found searching past posts is that the nitrogen last from 4-8 weeks. Does that sound about right? Vince

Blood delivers the most soluble N of any of the organic sources. Warm weather bacteria will release it faster but this is also true of synthetic soluble forms of N.

I have always thought i had a good boost after applying blood meal , But i dont think it lasts to long it seems like only 2-3 weeks ,But how do ya know for sure ? Anyways its still one of my early season favorites !!!
