Does potash stick around for a while after being added or does it leach fairly quickly?

As a general rule, potassium does not leach readily from the soil, but is held by the soils CEC. In light sandy, low CEC soils, potassium can leach, however in most of our patches we have good CEC's even in sandy soils because of the elivated OM.

It depends on the form its applied in. If it is in the soluable form it will have to be held by cation exchange or it will leach. If its in organic or bound form it will remain in the soil longer but will be less availiable to the plant.

From what I have heard it leaches out very quickly.

Muriate of Potash (KCL) or 0-0-62 is pretty soluble. Sulfate of Potash (K2S04) or 0-0-50 is less soluble (and lower in salt) so is less likely to leach.

What form was used & what is the soil's CEC?

I used 0-0-50 and CEC is 9.4
