I'm thinking of catching rainfall, next summer, in storage tanks from the downspouts from my Barn (52' x 75'). I figure I would get about 600 gallons of water from 1/4" of rainfall. (One Gallon = 231 cubic inches.)The Barn has a metal roof and was patched and painted last summer with a fibered metal roof paint. Would there be any harm in using this water to the pumpkin plants?...Tom

I would imagine not....but to be safe Id check the can of paint by finding it in the shed or whatever, by asking the contractor what he used and then finding that product in a paintstore or by calling a 800 number for the manufacturer of the paint and asking that question......but I doubt it..........G

I was going to set up a similar systems as Freddies, but got to thinking since it's 11 degrees f.outside, I probably should wait till spring!

GADS,
We need rain over hear on the West side of the mountains.
We have received only 1/3 of our normal amount for October....and furthermore, there is none in sight! Our soil is "bone dry"!!

I would have taken that 1/3 amount for our summer and ran with it. That is why I am looking into different possibilities for irrigation....Tom

It won't quit raining down here. The patch was a desert during the season and now its a swamp.

That's correct CEIS. I've seen it there. Concerning with the "rest", is truth I live in the old Spain, and make a nice red wine in my wineyard. Ttree years growing pumpkins without really AG seeds. But I traveled and got them now and the finest ones. Next year I'll do my best and... we'll see.

Don - Did you vist Genevea and some other growers in the Pacific Northwest recently? She told me that she met some one from Spain and gave him a tour of her patch.

Just wondering.
