I live in South Carolina and its to late to build a misting system this year HOWEVER next year I belive it is a must. I just don't know really much about it. I would like it to be timed and am going to plant 5 to 6 pumkins. Could someone please help me with what I need to get. Also I would like it to run straight from my water faucet outside.

I would go to dripworks.com and look under misters. I use the red tornado varitey and they work great. I use the 1/2 inch poly tubing down the middle of a patch. Then about every 6 feet I run a line of micro tubing 12 feet long out each side of the 1/2 tubing. On these "side" lines, I space the misters at 6 feet apart, with one mister right at the point of the 1/2 inch tubing. This gives a very even spray.

Misting timers are expensive for the most part. Its the worst part of the system in terms of $$ but last a long time. For six plants, you are going to need an advanced irrigation timer that can handle at least 6 zones and do so on a misting schedule of spraying for 5 seconds every 3 minutes or so. I dont have this right now so I cant recomend one to you. But type in "misting timers" and they should pop up. About $140 or so.

Keep ideas of pressure and distance in mind. I use 5/8' garden hoses from the facuet to run to the 1/2 poly tubing that goes down the middel of each plant. 3/4' PVC or 1" would be even better but way more expensive.

1/2 inch PVC should be enough if just misting. I have a couple of inline timers that screw onto the hose bib and they have a misting option, they came with the house, but sure they can not be more than 20-30 bucks. I think you need only one zone for misting

I thougt mister needed to me elavated. How are they going to mist the leaves if there ground level. O by the way thanks to both of you for your help.

Yes, the need to be elevated in some fashion. 36 inch risers work fine. Even better if you can, I have hail netting covering my patch so I attach all my lines to the netting and thus the misters are hanging about 6 feet in the air over the entire patch.
