If i add humic acid to my soil will it lower my soil pH? And if so by how much? Thanks

You won't be adding enough HA to have any significant effect

Well how much would you have to add to effect the pH? I use a granular 35% Humic acid, last year I used a 50lb bag for my 500sqft patch. This year I bought another 50lber but was planning on only using 25lbs worth.

Keep in mind that good quality, mature, compost is around 10% humic acid. The pH of said compost could easily be 7.5 to 8.0... Point being that there is a lot of buffering and different reactions taking place continually in compost... Used in the proper amount it is the best patch amendment to add fertility bar none.

At 50 lbs per 1000 ft2, you are applying a little over 2000 lbs per acre. Its possible for the acid to neautralize some Ca and lower the pH. I think this would depend on the soil type. My soil is very high in free calcium carbonate (limestone base). It would have little or no effect on my soils. if your soil is sandy and typicly needs lime to maintain a neautral pH, you may see some lowering with the use of Ha over time.

Hi Mister leon, sorry, can't get any humic acid in France, but it seems that the juice of fresh horse manure got some if you you want to try, Best, Stéphane.

To go down the PH , you can put little sulfur or lot of OM
