I was thinking about watering my plants from my pond this coming year, anyone else do this? How about using my windmill to put air into my compost tea, now that would save some electricity. My electric co. just informed me our rates are to go up 12%, as if they are not high enough already.. lol

I used pond water at the old patch. As long as the fish are happy, you should be fine.

The main problem with surface water is that it will contain fungus spores. You may want to chlorinate between the pond and patch or install a UV system, but those can cost a bit.

I water from my pond and my plants and garden do great.The water has extra nutrients. The water is warm, filtered and aerated. You can run into problems if you are pumping from a mud bottom non-aerated pond.

Pond water will be warmer than city water or well water. Might be better for plant growth. Natural biological agents in the water shouldn't hurt and probably are better than chlorine.

i fill a water truck with pond water and then pump it through my sprinklers and have had no problems other than the occasional clog
