i want to hook up a mister that will come on at specific temperature and go off at a specific temperature. how can i do it? any ideas?

I don't know if they make something for the application you want but you could do this; a regular sprinkler valve operates on 24 volts. You could build a mister system that incorporates said valve then just hook it to a store bought heating and air conditioner thermostat, set the thermostat to whatever temp you want and you're off to the races. Some thermostats will operate off of batteries alone, some require 24 volts from a 120 volt to 24 volt transformer. I would use one hooked to a 120 to 24 volt transformer because it will for sure deliver the required current to the valve.
