Why are my leaves wilting??? One plant is very bad, one is partially wilted. They came back last night overnight, then have done it again this morningl. I don't think it's SVB's, because the whole plant went all at once, them came back all at once. It was cooler yesterday, has been up over 100, but yesterday was about 94 or 95. The humidity was lower, too. But why only the one that's so bad, the rest look fine? The wilted leaves aren't discolored, just wilted down like a closed umbrella. Is this something AG's just do?

sounds like your plant in question needs more water. is it to dry? some plants also flag more than others when under heat stress.

There are also a couple vasular diseases that can clog the water transport system. Let's hope that isn't the case.

yes steve lets hope thats not the case. been there seen that. it aint purdy either.

thank goodness with all the systemics avaliable today we have that pretty much licked. the thing he has going is that it kinda early for disease problems. (i hope)

My leaves droop every day during the mid afternoon and then recover as soon as the sun goes behind the tree on the West side of the yard. It's typically 100+ degrees every day in the summer here. Is that normal or does it mean I'm not watering enough? The soil is still moist which is why I haven't worried about it so far. The plant gets misted by lawn sprinkler system in the early morning every day and I apply water to stump and vine roots by hand with bubbler every morning. I'm going to switch my manual watering to evening as of tomorrow due to comments in another thread.

I drip mine 12-1 am and 12-1 pm seems to help alot.

One in a million chance of this but...Last year I grew an AG plant for the first time. Not knowing a thing about them I poured a couple of bags of compost and a couple of bags of composted manure on the ground on the side of my house, mixed it all together and planted my seed in it. The plant started on its growth journey and tight about the time it started flowering in June it would wilt very badly in the heat of the day. I did all kinds of research and convinced myself I had some type of wilt disease. I pulled the plant and that was that. This year I decided to plant tomatoes and peppers in that spot. When I was prepping the ground I noticed that the previous homeowner had installed a brick walkway there and then put about eight inches of dirt right over the top of it at some point. So my problem with the wilting pumpkin turned out to be that the roots were getting baked by the heat from the bricks! The stuff I have in that spot now grows just fine.

its heat stress. you need some shade cloth.
