Just wondering how many of you use normal tap water for watering and does it have any effect on the plants and or fruits? our new home our water smells very chlorine and was wondering am i best to fill rain barrels with the tap water to let it distill before watering or does it matter

You can buy a filter to take out most of the chlorine

Chlorine is not an issue, once it interacts with the organic matter in the soil.
Brewing CT is another matter. You do not want to brew with water straight out of the tap until the chlorine has blown off.

Don't knock city water. It beats our pond that runs dry when we need it most.

I bought a filter for mine, I don't know if it helped, but it can't hurt.

Most municipalities have been switching to chloramine, chloramine will not gas-off like chlorine, i would not use it for making compost tea.
if you fill a white bucket or if you have a white bath tub check and see if the water has a green tinge to it if so you have chloramine!

No green tinge here...I fill 6 60 gallon barrels every other day...and run it out thru a drip system every other day!!! 24 hrs. to let the chlorine out!!! hope that is enough!!! No drip, if it rains!!! Peace, Wayne
PS...or call yer local municipal water system and ask em if they use chloramine?? Thanks,Borer for the info!!!
