I am a new grower and seemed to recall reading here awhile back that some people use iv's to water the pumpkins. Now I cant find any info on it.

My wife is a nurse so I have a few setups and a few pumpkins that are at the right size I think, just curious if anyone has had success and what they were using (normal saline, dextrose etc).

One year the out of town winner at Topsfield had his pumpkin disqualified after it weighed a little too heavy to the charts. Upon examination the very small injection holes were revealed, the pumpkin was opened & gallons of clear tap water ran out.

Injecting water into a vine is too injurious to chance.

Injecting water into the ground is AKA drip irrigation.

Thanks guys! lol, I thought it sounded a little too easy...

I had a few pumpkins split the other day as I think I overwatered. I see we are supposed to get a few more days of rain - what do people do when it rains hard to keep the pumpkins from getting too much water?

Dont listen to them, I use a iv with milk every year. Only way this will work is if you put the iv in the 5th secondary off the main at the 7th leaf node off that secondary, its usally easy to find , that leaf node will be usally colored coded blue .

Brook is that the 5th secondary on the right or the left and what shade of blue should it be? Fat free milk or whole milk? Can we use chocolate milk to give the pumpkin a tan?

LOL!!!!!!!!!!
