I had been contemplating this for some time and put the idea into effect today.

Those of us who use drip systems know what a pain it is to reuse fittings which have been caked in patch soil.

Please do not do this with the non-growing spouse at home. Place all your fittings in the washing machine along with your favorite detergent and a dab of bleach. Allow the washer to complete its cycle and spread all the fittings out on newspaper to dry. Simple as that. DO NOT forget to clean out the washer afterwards, lest you suffer the grilling of your life and you're forced to fess up and make promises which will be more expensive than the fittings themselves.

It works!

Oh, and don't forget to check under the agitator for stray fittings.

Good idea, I don't think it will work for the front loading washing machines, unless a pile of broken parts is what you're after.
