Hi.
I am stocking up on fertilizers for this years growing season, and I've been having trouble getting fertilizers high in potassium/potash, and finding info on gypsum.
I found some 0-0-50 potassium sulfate on ebay, granular and soluble, but the seller couldn't tell me at what rate to apply it.
With the gypsum, I heard to use it, but no-one told me at what rate I should be using it, and why.
Let me know all your reccomendations, thanks.

You not only find the stuff you need to grow he has some very good info under the LEARNING AND RESOURCE tab at the top. Check out the liquid gypsum it coverage is better than pellets.
The owner of that website is Bohica(Tom) who is also a grower here on bigpumpkins and is one of the most helpful people you will find. Any questions you have he will help with.

thegrower, you need a soil test to determine what needs to be added. Applying gypsum will raise your calcium with out changing your soil ph.

I have a soil test for N,P,K, and PH.
What else do I need to test and where do I get a tester for that?

thegrower, we send soil test to a lab for analysis. You will get a break down of the nutrients/micro nutrients in your soil and what needs to be added. The home kits are not very accurate.

If you already had the soil tested, just post the lab report here.

When in doubt, 50 lbs gypsum per 1000 sq ft is safe.

I'd really need your other base cation element values to rate the potassium nitrate. Timing of application is the more significant consideration with the PN anyway. PN is used mostly as a finishing fertilizer.
