I'm getting ready to order supplies and things I need for this year's growing season. My question is what kinds of fertilizers and amendments should I buy? I've heard of Myco, kelp/seaweed, and alfalfa pellets. What do most of you use?

Seed, soil, sun & luck. Have a soil test done, ask here for amendment/fertilizer sugestions. Hollands land of giants has a fertilizer program, I will be trying to follow that this year myself. Treat your plants once a week with something to kill, keep away squash vine borers. Use seeds from here, they have the genetics to grow 1,000-1,500 and up, don't use the ones from the local harware, garden store. When you request seeds here, make sure you send along a thank you note to the grower you got them from, alot of growers will offer you seeds for the price of a envelope.

I can not say enough about what all Tom at Extremepumpkins does to help all the growers, new and long timers. Just email him and he is more than happy to help you with a program that will fit what your wanting to grow, not just for giant pumpkin growers but all other gardening needs also. Starting with soil needs all the way to what you need to finish the season with.
