I haven't ever gotten into the whole fertilizers, etc. I use Miracle Grow once a week or so, and add molasses to my watering later on in the season but that's it. My pumpkin hit 645 last year and now I'm thinking maybe if I start using a fertilizer regimen or add the microbes, etc I'd get even larger results. I don't really know where to start, other than what I read in Giant Pumpkin III. Any ideas for an easy first time fertilizer regimen.

Add lots of compost/composted manure and work it into the soil. Then get a soil test to see what you need. Maintaining the correct ph level will make your fertilizers work better. Keeping a fairly high organic matter content is important too. In the fall add a bunch of chopped up leaves. Placing some organic fertilizer with beneficial bacteria and micorrhizae at the leaf/root nodes and burying the vines helps a lot too. Espoma and Jobes both make organic ferts with bacteria/micorrhizae.
