what time of year should i start using fungicide? Is it more of a weather condition sort of thing? Just a little confusion.

You need to start preventative sprays for powdery mildew and downy mildew now. Some diseases like root rot you can't see very easily so it is best to treat for those, too.

I use Daconil, Mancozeb, Actinovate, and Agri-FOS. More experienced growers will undoubtedly have good ideas to add.

It is especially critical to spray after heavy rains which splash pathogens up onto your leaves.

When you plant, use rootshield or other control. Continue to weighoff. I start with biological control when the pressure is light root shield, serenade, etc. When disease pressure increases start adding in contact and systemic controls.

every two weeks rotate the two contacts (Daconil and Mancozeb) with the three systemics (Banner, Eagle, Compass). Period.

Eagle 20 is the number 1 rated Powdery Mildew fungicide. PERIOD.

Many disease programs needed to already start.
