I recently have purchased some of the Neptunes fish and seaweed fertilizer. After diluting it in a one gallon container, how many gallons do I apply to the main stem where it exits the ground to count as one weekly application? Currently, I add about 2 gallons a week. I also spray about ½ a gallon as foliar on both sides of the leaves. I am new to this so I might completely be missing on how this works. Thanks,

Luke

There is no set amount to apply....but keep in mind too much can burn the plant...im in my 4th year and when the plant is small i tend to keep the fish down(1/2 gallon to 1 gallon)...i dilute it alot!! As the plant becomes fully matured and grown out i really hit it...2 gallons diluted at a time with seaweed...ive never burned up a plant...but try to drench from the stump and about 5 feet out as you have tons of surface feeding roots...also try not to get the stump wet as this can cause stump rot...seems you both are on the right track...the plant will let you know if you are giving it too much...the leaves will be a dark green and have a bloated look to them...if this occurs stop fertilizing for a week and the plant will come around...they are tough!!!! I usually hit the plants once a week with the fish/seaweed and also foliar 3 times a week along with ironite...natures magic and a calcium supplement...hope this helps...its all a learning process...sometimes trial and error..but most of all...HAVE FUN AND ENJOY!!!

Extremepumpkinstore.com & Hollandsgiants.com both have fertilizer programs, you could use them as a reference.

Thanks guys, from myself also. I started using a gal/week but had been wondering if that was enough now. The plants are alot bigger now than when I started. But I was afraid to give to much.

I normally add just a finger pinch to a gal ( 4 L) of water just enough to make the water a nice dark brown LOL

CF: You apply 1 gal of Fish fert/wk? I think the instructions say 1Tbl/gal. For example, if you put 80 gal water/wk, that is 80 Tbl or 5cups of fertilizer. But, if you are applying 1 gal, you are now applying 16 cups per week. That would best be evenly applied on the patch.

I meant to say 80 gal water/day. Sorry. If your fertilizing that much with fish, you're going to see nice vine growth and dark leaves. IMHO, that's more than I would apply because of cost.

I don't know what size your plants are- but if you got 10 ft to 15 ft long plants i would put 2 cups (of un-diluted fish & seaweed ) threw a miracle grow feeder water around & on whole plant evenly approx 300 sq ft , & water into soil with many gallons of water , also put solution out beyond plant as roots are out farther than you might believe ! & apply once a week to once every 10 days !
