I hear conflicting lime applications from 2 different soil tests.
I put 50 lbs. per 1000 square foot in...is that enough to raise the pH by 1 point?
Sandy loam soil.

Kyle,

Some labs make it policy to never recommend more than 50lbs/M for one treatment. They're afraid if you're treating actively growing plants or turf, then much more than 50 lbs. would likely cause stress.

The lab might not have keyed your test properly. In other words, had they known you were tilling in the lime, they might have made a different recommendation.

In my experience, even on sandier soils, 50 lbs won't move the pH 1 full point if it's tilled into the top 6-8" of soil.

What were the 2 recommendations?

Steve
