Any body have info on the effects of granular fert on a patch and under a hoop house, would this cause a plant to burn... I believe it would be from the nitrogen...

I don't know if fert gases would be a problem but fart gases would sure be a beast!

And yes, granular fert can burn your plant up, I've done it numerous times.

Nitrogen fertilizer especially natural, ie the ammonia in them, if left out on the surface of the ground will dentrificate or "evaporate". I'm not 100% sure of the chemistry but I believe when this happen the ammomia breaks down and N2 is release into the air. N2 is not harmful to your plants. Now if ammonia gas was evaporating into air and trapped in a hoop house it might build up, and that could be harmful in high concentrations. but you would be able to instantly smell it inside you hoop houses.
I assume that with granular fert you'd have the same effect but only on a much scale.
so with granular fert mixed into the soil inside a hoop house I'm sure you would be ok and not have any measureable harmful build up.
