Hey gang, what's the best herbicide to use on broadleaf/dandelions, that won't also kill the grass? Any input is appreciated. Steve

I like Weed On as a broad leaf spot killer. I believe all garden centers carry it or an equal broadleaf killer. My squirt bottle is hung on the lawn mower to go after individuals not the whole yard. Dandelions travel miles as they fly well in the breezes so it is a yearly "as I see them project".

I've been into mowing at four inches. The extra height in the grass shades and serves as a shaded prevent to many broadleaf yard plant pests.

Oh Boy. The list is long.

Of the retail/consumer preperations, any of the Bayer Advanced or Ortho liquid preperations that contain 2,4-d would do a good job.

For the 2,4-d haters out there, look for products that contain one of the non phenoxy selective herbicides like Clopyralid (soon to be removed from home lawns due to persistance issues), Triclopyr, ot the very new & low use rate material Carfentrazone.

For the general anti-pesticide-in-geneal crowd, larger
dandelions an be physically torn from their roots & the crown then treated with a small dose of table salt.

Smaller ones can be pulled from moist soil until the roots get too long.

Granular Weed-N-Feed products offer mixed results. They are best applied to moist turf when the lawn is getting a little shaggy between mowings.

Garden State Pumpkins

I've always had good results with "weed-b-gone" products...they have specific formulations if any get by the general one. can tell by the color stripe on the label.

Word of Caution:......2,4D is toxic to pumpkins it will travel several hurdred yrds when contions are right......Don't use 2,4D duing spring and summer if you want your pumpkins to continue growing.....Bob
