Anybody tried to organic manure and compost mix sold at Wal Mart in the yellow and white bags?

Got two bags yesterday to mix into my pumpkin and gourd hills.

Wondering if other people have used it with good results.

Thanks

I bought some bags and they were full of rocks! Dont waste your money. Find a supplier and compost it yourself.

I've used the composted steer manuer but there is a lot of wood in it (likely to keep the smell down). I give the grass a light coat and rake up the sticks. Agree with others: The real thing is better as you know what you are really getting.

Worthless. That stuff is loaded with pathagens that promote diseases. I wouldnt use it. Your better off making friends with people at a local farm that have piles of the stuff thats been there composting for years.

I have been using it for years with no problems. The plants seem to like it.I got a bunch late last summer when they put it on clearance for $0.25 a bag. It is really only about 10% manure. The rest is compost and peat. I checked it for ph last fall and it was about neutral. A couple of my friends use it with good results too. But I also get good composted cow manure and other organic amendments to add along with it.

I can get cow manure. The problem is my dogs love to roll in it and dig it up.

My property borders a cow pasture.

Don't have any place to put it and compost it without my dogs getting into it.

If your dogs are getting into your pile you can take four wooden pallets and nail them together to make a bin.
