what is the best and most coast effective fish/seaweed fertilizer that is on the market. trying to go organic and not break the bank. thanks in advance

Why don't you go back to the "mine" and gather up all those perch you threw in the alders...they're nice and rotted now I bet...ahahhahahaha!

Seriously...test this out...why don't you put those conch entrails in a bucket with a half bottle of javex or chlorine bleach (sounds harsh I know but..) the chlorine should volatilize off in a couple days kill the bacterial smell (or at least reduce it) and leave you with a slurry fit for a pumpkin king! You have time in your off season...experiment boy, experiment...you got the time and weather for it!

Phosphoric acid is what the Fish/Seaweed Companies use. Might work better than the bleach if available.

I'm sure that you could find some 'free' alternatives down there. Check in on some of the fish companies down at the dock and see what you could come up with. I'm sure that you can get free heads, guts, and tails. Puree that all up in the blender (w/ bleach or the phosphoric acid) and let it sit for a while and more than likely you have the same "stuff" that we all buy.

Just try not to think about the smell......

-Southern just got some free fish 'slurry' and I think that this is a pretty good idea.

Myself, I use the "Alaska" brand. Their distributing network probably does not reach your neck of the woods.

I agree, North American Kelp has very good prices. Their 5 gallon pails of fish fertilizer, kelp or combination of the two is $65.00. That includes shipping in the continental USA. That's hard to beat unless one buys it by the 55 gallon barrel. I'm not sure what their prices are for outside the States..Joe P.
