I have access to manure that is up to 8-10 years old.I do not know which is the newer stuff. Is this still good ? I have heavy clay soil so it at least should help with that?It is pretty well pure horse manure that had very little straw mixed in.

It should be good stuff, nitrogen and k levels will be low if its had consistent rain on it

the older the better, if it's free you can't beat the price, I use 3 year old cow manure

Spudder, thats what I used on my patch when I started 2 years ago. Like you, I have heavy clay which, after a rain, turned into cement. I added about 5-6 years worth (some aged and some fresh) from the gf's horse and tilled it in. Soil went from a light khaki color to a rich chocolate brown. Plants loved it. Improved the tilth an incredible amount.

I would mix it in well and then do a soil test so you know what you are dealing with.

Thanks for the replies. It is free and i can take all i want(there's probably 50 half ton truck loads minimum). I also was given 4 truck loads of pig, horse.cow, goat and sheep mixture that was aged and turned. Approx. 4000 sq.ft.garden
