If i would fertilize the plants with fish fertilizer near the evening and the next morning water the plants for a couple of hours, would this be a bad thing, meaning would watering flush all the fish fertilizer out of the root zone of the pumpkin plants?

If the next morning water is a normal water (sprinklers, etc), not the Universal Diluvie, it will be OK, roots will take the fish. But if the water, after those two watering hours, is running through the edges of your patch with a dark color and nast fish smell... hummmmmmmmmm

I figure if the leaves are wet and then dry after feeding the majority of the plan is complete. What runs to the roots was excess, for the most part. Normal daily watering will not take away the value of leaf pick up and use of your fish or other leaf contact feeding. In fact the watering may help the leaf take in a tad more of your fish.
If any washes off it goes to the root zone where a second uptake of fertilizer is in process. Fish labels indicate six to eight percent N. available. Your plant will use just a little of it in process.

Watch your leaves closely. You want a rich green not a dark green or blue green. If the latter appears slow down the addition of any fertilizer. If the leaves fade to light green increase the fish a little to correct.

When making changes do it very slowly to maintain a growth that does not show spurts. Keep the soil damp to touch consistantly with occasional dry off of the top surface to fight germinating weeds. Rake or hoe only the top half inch.
Your roots are very close to the top in most instances. Pull the larger ones if you can. Shovels are outlawed in pumpkin patches inside of four feet from the closest growing leaf.

Good luck grow a big one.
