I would like to hear from growers that have used Gypsum on their pumpkin patches. The results they have had and how much should be used per 1000 square feet.

MC, The rate you would use (if any) depends on the results of a soil test. Gyspum is good at breaking up hard soils. It also helps to leach salts (rates up to 200 Lbs/1000 sq ft). You can also raise soil Calcium levels just like Limestone does. But if your pH is already at or close to neutrel, then Limestone would be likely to raise your pH too high. This is when you select Gypsum for Calcium rather than Lime since Gypsum is non-reactive.

Get a soil test first. Then we can help you figure this out.
