I think you would have to have a lot of aquariums to get enough to doo much good. Probably have better results burying the fish in the patch!

The local high school here in my county has the largest fish hatchery in Tennessee. I take 55 gallon drums in the back of my pickup and they fill 'em up with fish manure/ slurry, unlimited supply. My patch stinks all summer long.

real fish and guts is good especially can tell be the smell but careful it attracts other critters around including raccoons and cats the "prepared fish" is relatively odorless and less of an attractant pete

Jean......none of my books rates fish manure. I see nothing wrong, in using it, as long as a hatchery process would not have added something you would not want in your patch. I do not have a guess as to what the nitrogen value could be. If it is unfermented it should be quite high. Slurry application could possibly over nitrate your patch which is not good. You need to somehow find out what it is you are getting.

Good point Doc...I don't apply any to my patch until after fruit set because of that very unknown. I figured it was best to wait until the plants were large.

Going to go visit the Capilano fish hatchery (salmon, steelhead and trout)and see if they will save some goodies for me. We have raccoons and bears here and certainly don't want to attract them - is that an issue?

Oh no...here it comes. To avoid all doubt those bears trainers fed to much carbohydrate. The brix went from sugar, in their veins, to lead in their butts. They could not get recharged. They died in vein.
