I have been investigating Azomite for use in my patch. One thing I found in my readings on it was that you shouldn't use it on citrus trees where the soil Ph is 6.8 or more. I'm not sure why that is stated. This just makes me wonder if I use this in my pumpkin patch if there will be some type of effect on my soil Ph. Anyone know?

Fertrell is a fine company. Ask them if you have doubts. A have used Azomite or a similar product for nearly half a century in my gardens and now the pumpkin patch. As of this day I rotate with Ironite, Greensand and Azomite. There are two types of Greensand. One from New Jersey and one from Texas. They both talk funny. :)

I am aware that the State of California has banned Ironite. Those people are nuts! That's my two cents worth. They would be of far greater service if they outlawed tobacco but then they would lose all the tax money from the sale of the same. There is a hundred times more poison on K-Marts garden shelf than is found in any trace element additives used in agriculture not to mention the agricultural supply centers.

Hi Doc, you got me Curious as to whether Ironite had been banned here so I went down to Home Depot to see if they had it. It's still for sale here and no one knew anything about it being banned. I'm still leaning toward getting a bag of Azomite. I wrote to the Azomite company but they haven't responded to my question.....hmmm

Factually there is a mini, very tiny, trace of lead which was not on the label or in the advertising. In layman's terms that is what the fracus is all about. The amount was so small that my state dropped the race to hammer the company.

For goodness sake look at the copper and boron we attribute to good soil content. Take that away and we will not garden for anything.

This is one of those deals that if you ate four point five pounds of claimed contaminated soil twice a day you may get indigestion. More likely you would need a dose of Castor Oil. :)

Azomite is a fine alternative. Watch out though one of the chickens that produced the poop may have pecked a 1943 penny lost in the barnyard. Or worse yet the chicken may be in a brood house with welded wire forced growing or laying boxes. Those welds may contain lead. :) My goodness some early paints contained lead. I would hope no chickens are being forced to live in that kind of an environment.

In my opinion that specific California law suit is exactly what happens when the cops do not have the skill, the money, the given authority or all three, to chase the really bad boys that are screwing up big time.
