The high calcium level indicates the probable presence of soluble calcium. Therefore the CEC andthe percent saturations were calculated using a maximum exchangeable calcium level of 15 meq/100g.

I'd do exactly what they say and add the N.
If you use Ammonium Sulfate it will have a lowering effect on the pH which you ask about on the other board.

Your ph of 7.3 isn't that far off the mark. Many of the best growers in the world aim for a ph of 6.8 to 7.1 Even if you leave the ph at 7.3, you will do fine:) Don't add very much sulfer to your soil if you do want to lower it before the season, you don't need much.:) Best wishes, Jim

Thanks for the input. I did buy Ammonium Sulfate today and followed instructions. Yes I did apply very little of it. The instructions also said that it was suppose to increase the N. Is that true? Well anyway, that is what I did. Thanks.

Ammonium Sulfate is 21% Nitrogen and 24% Sulphur.
So 100lbs of AS supplies 21lbs Nitrogen and 24lbs Sulphur.
268lbs of AS spread on one acre supplies 75lbs.N/acre.
One acre =43560 sq.ft.
268lbs divided by 435.6 = 0.615 lbs(roughly 10 ozs.) per 100 sq.ft.so that is the rate they are suggesting down to patch scale.

It is important to work or water in this fertiliser quickly unless of course it has rained since application or is going to rain very soon.

you figured that out well. I could not figure all that out when I tried even though I was reading most of that off of the bag of Ammonium Sulfate. Thanks for the help there. We already did water it because it may not rain for several days. Couldn't hurt to water it. I mean suppose it rained today. Thanks AXC and good luck growing this season.
