Easy does it my friend. That is some hot stuff you have there. I would be inclined To say one wheelbarro load or five five gallon buckets would be the outside limit in the spring, on a 1000 sq. ft. patch. That is good compost pile tonic and can be added in the fall with leaves and other manures.....but go in there very gingerly this time of year.

All bird poop is pretty hot stuff!!! I use pigeon poop from friends. I follow my own advise.

Compost Pile...within reason unlimited. In my mind that is up to one third the total volume. Yes that is a little heavy but if it stinks just add some more leaves, dried grass, straw or other browns.

If you were to eyeball my compost pile you might agree it is two heaping loads per one ton pickup truck. I add four five gallon pails of pigeon poop in there every six weeks. Never got to hot or stinky for me. Never is a big word. Try hardly ever gets stinky for me. I also add about fifty pounds of coffee grounds daily and two bushels of human hair plus other goodies like occasional peanut shells. I dry my grass if I am expecting the pigeon poop. That helps.

If you dig down in the center of the pile there is no telling what might be cooking there. It might be more fun than a discovery trip with the seashore naturalists.

I might be a light touch on this subject but I only put four buckets on in the "fall" patch along with other manures and elements of compost including lots of leaves. I believe you could in fact over nitrate organically if you used to much bird poop from any source. It is good stuff. It is hot stuff. If in doubt put it in the compost pile to mellow for half a year.
