How much elevation do I need for a 550 gallon tank to water 6 pumpkin plants (75'x55'area)? Also when do you put it in? Do you irrigate the entire area even when the plants are small? Or can you add to it as the plants grow?

Per each two feet and four inches of elevation you get one pound of water pressure. Dripworks T-Tape systems are tested to work at two to ten pounds pressure. You count the height of the water in the tank just as if it were on a stand. You may rig up a series of valves to deliver water along the main line as you need it. I feed water from the ends of the patch and along one side. The patch is set up in four segments. You may continue working the patch aghead of the segment being watered. Mine is hoed in four inches deep. The plant grows over it. I pull it up or out in the fall to work the patch for fall prep.
