Hi, I am having a bit of trouble finding liquid Cal-Mag at the moment.
I was just interested if this idea would work or even if it is the same thing.
So to get close to 100ppm of Calcium and Magnesium i found this ratio out.
Calcium Nitrate, mix 2 grams per 1 gallon of water, this gives you a calcium ratio of 100ppm
Epson Salts, mix 1 gram per gallon of water, this gives you a magnesium ratio of 108ppm

I was just interested to know if this is worth looking at as it has to be way cheaper than the Cal-Mag they sell you

The ppm seams to be correct I think, and when you do a search, you see people mixing this up as 1 gram of Epson Salts and 2 grams of Calcium Nitrate in a 1 Gallon of water.

You have to mix and dissolve each one by itself before mixing the two together.

I just haven't yet found out how much you dilute this solution to apply it say via drip line.
Just interested to here everyone's thought on this
Cheers

Why do you think you have to mix the 2 together? Do a soil test to see if you need anything and if you need N then add some Calcium Nitrate. If you need Magnesium then add Epson. Use a PPM meter to make your own dilution... say 200 ppm for each. When I needed either element, I would add 2 tablespoons to my 40 gallon tank and pump through drip lines. NEED a soil test first.
