Another Newbie here...has anyone compared results of city water vs rain or well water. I'm sure there is a boat load of chemicals in the city water, but would they effect plant or pumpkin the growth?

Yes, they could affect growth. Also the PH of the water could affect your pumpkins growth. If you're using city water, try to get a list of what the water contains, as well as the PH!

I have to use city water, but I bought a filter through Charlies Greenhouse That takes out the iron & other chemicals, then I also let the water set in tanks for a couple of days to help get the chlorine out. Did a experiment with this water last year . Put straight city water on 1 flower bed, & put my treated water on another . The bed that recieved the treated water was a great deal better than the other one ( larger & more flowers).......Paul

water ph is almost as important as soil ph those other guys that responded have good points filtering and tanking water helps also where you live can be a factor air pollution mixed in with rain i might be splitting hairs
