Good or bad? My mother always used them and tea leaves, but I have thought them to be too acidic to use. The area I live in has rather acidic soil, I think. Azaleas and other acidic plants do extremely well here and I don't think it's just the warmer climate.

Hubby and I drink enormus quantities of espresso, it's just a matter of collecting it instead of throughing it out.

What say the pros?

Great nutrients in coffee grounds and worms love them. I used about 600 lbs in the patch this year.

Worm food. Very acidic, so not right in the honey hole during the growing season. But when the worms & bacteria have finished working it over it's good stuff.

Yes, you should add them in fall.

So, what do I do with the grounds? Throw them in a pile outside until time to use them? We go through about 24 pounds of whole bean a month -- dunno how much that is ground and damp -- and I'll call my buddies at Starbucks and see what they can contribute. Patch isn't all that big atm and I haven't quite yet decided what I'm going to use for next year.

Anyone know how much one should add to a 1000sq ft garden? Don't want to over do it on the acid part?

You're quite right and I apologize for bringing up a subject that had been discussed in April. I kinda got excited when someone mentioned coffee in another message and if there's one thing we have in surplus around here, it's coffee grounds.
