i have gotten into a big disagreement with a guy who works for me..he is always aerating his yard and going on about how much it helps and all that jazz...well i take care of my parents yard..bermuda and zoyia and its never seen a aerator in the 30 years ive cut it and it looks like a golf green..i tell him hes full of it and i have made a bet with him...i'm going to take his aerator and drag it across my yard a few times..mark the spots with hidden land marks and see if he can come back later and tell me where i did it...i personally think it all a crop and just something to sell people with too much time on their hands...if it works so great why dont all the hay farmers drag one around??i have never seen one in use in a feild..we do have one for rent at our local co op but the paint is atill on the tines and its been there for years...

I have one and mainly use it on parts of the lawn that are overgrown with moss, like under trees, in the shade of buildings or hedges, etc.
It does a really good job here...
Most times I also use it on the areas that are in full sun (our lawn isn't that big so the extra work is no problem) but I think it doesn't help much here. Some years I am too lazy and don't go over the full sun areas and see no difference...
