I mentioned having "a" current bush that was not producing currants...well I went out to prune "it" and found I had not one but FIVE currant bushes, and one was 25 feet or so away from the others. Do currants (not the wild variety) usually spread like this? I bought another "Red Cherry currant" plant and set it out handy the others. I have not had any currants for years...and now I am thinking just maybe I wasn't paying attention and the birds were...else how could these currant bushes have come in existance if "mommy" currant bush was not producing???
