Does anybody know if long gourds ever have females on the main vine? So far I have only seen them on the secondary vines... it just seems that getting the gourds growing on the main vine would be better than on a secondary.

i was told to cut the main once it hit the top of the trellis. then the sides will grow out with the females.

After reading a book i found out that only males are on the main vine.
