There is some type of bug that seems to eat at every single root-crop in my vegetable garden. I try to grow organically, but I am getting fed up with this problem. Last year when ever I harvested my carrots, radishes, beets, and potatoes, I could see that something had been eating on them underground. Looking at the vegetables would give you the impression of what carpenter-ant- infested wood would look like.......lots of little holes and "tracks" going through the flesh of the veggies.

Any ideas on what type of bug it might be, and how to kill it (pesticide) while still keeping the vegetables safe to eat?
