I post this annually, but cant seem to get it straight..... Can anyone give me any advice on tending some apple trees throughout the season. Kind of like a 12 step program.....lol. They are approx 5 feet tall - so they are still young....thanks, Ray

Step #1 = chainsaw Step #2 = tiller Step #3 = more pumpkins
Much easier than spraying apple trees all summer. LOL
Hort Oil @ 2% with Eagle at "mouse ear" which was last week. Repeat with 1% oil & Eagle 10 days later Repeat just Eagle at day 30 but add Permethrin & a good surfactant since the oil is now not in the mix. Keep scouting & spraying Permethrin all summer for all manner of hideous insects that are usually more persistent than the average backyard orchardist.

Ray, We just bought apple trees this year also. I do not know of any programs. We were told to just keep the soil and add nutrients before new growth begins and spraying. If you find anything elseout I would like to know also.

My brother in Nebraska bought one of those 3 n 1 apple trees planted it. It did real good. Then it started to have fruit. Well since there was 3 different kinds of fruit 1 side of the tree started to lean over because the fruit from the 1 variety was ripening faster than the others. Apple trees are kind of shallow rooted he had to drive a stake into the groung and pull the one side of the tree back up a little at a time.
