Beach Park, IL.

I will be going to Tennessee for 5 days next week. I have seedlings in my little growlight/greenhouse in my room. I can put a timer on the grow light, but I am more concerned about them not drying up and getting enough water. Any suggestions??? Thanks.

1st I would like to say I am going to have to report you the plant police. Vacations are for other people. Leaving a plant unattended for 5 days is unacceptable. But if I were ever to have to do so such a thing. A timer, a closed in area to prevent excessive evaporation, and a good watering before you left would possibly be an idea.

For this length of time you might need someone to water them for you. Just make sure they are trustworthy & properly trained.

I actually had to cancel my vacation this year and my girlfreind wasnt to happy about. I was planning to go from July first until the seventh but I told her I had to pollinate my crosses and I dont want to let it up to the bees. With 9 plants at one patch together I have to watch out I dont want any open pollination.

There will be someone here to take care of the hedgehog, but I know from previous experience there were times they didn't water the plants (maybe 'cause my mom told them not to worry about it - she really isn't big into my plants to start with). Perhaps if I make a big issue about it. If anything, once I put the seedlings into a bigger container tonight, it won't need to be watered as much, if they could water it once mid week at least.

If you where closer to us me and sis would watch your seedlings for you LOL. I would give them a big dose of water before you go, too bad there wasnt a way for you to set up a mini drip system to give them little water each day.

I was thinking maybe fill the tray with some water so it can soak it up when needed, but I didn't want to drown them.

Well, everything seems good and survived, except for my LAST watermelon seedling :cries:. I guess I will be sticking to giant pumpkins only this year.
