My sister and I planted a cherry seed today and we are wondering how long it will take for it to germinate.

It most likely will take the cold winter to set the seed and put down a tap root. This spring, it should send up a runner that may get to 5 to 10 inches if conditions are right. Native Black cherry seeds will produce the same tree, but if you have a gourme or hybrid tree you are planting the seed from, you are going to get one of the parent plants. Good Luck!!
