add sugar to that boric acid will draw them and then kill.

In our area the ants are "farming" aphids that are in the apples trees and drinking their honeydoo.

The boric acid around the base works on some but you've got to get rid of the aphids. I've been using neem oil with some success (thanks Doc) and have kept the apple trees all organic for many years now....they also like some of the agro-k program.

Hi, mr Geo,I use a tube of tree barrier.I place it about. 12 inches from the base of the main trunk.most of all your ants will get stuck to the barrier.

Ditto the chance of aphids. Check the newest growth very carefully. By themselves, ants are harmless. Even carpenter ants are only drawn to dead wood. They will never eat the live conductive tissue so they cause no harm. Leaf cutter ants are a bother in the tropics only.
