If you want big onions for 2008 you need to get them started now. From Dec 12 to end of month for large and after for dinky onions.lol or cocktail onions. Have fun!

Going to start mine next week. I would go for Kelsae. Ailsae tend to be somewhat smaller.

24 hour grow lights for the first 3 weeks they are up. 65 degrees is all they need once they are up. You may use a fungicide when planting so they do not neck rot.About February move to window for some real sunlight. Reimer Seeds has both onion seeds.

I did not dig any thing up it is just a well known fact that bulbing in onion is day length sensitive. Which means the plants will start bulbing early while the plants are small. Resulting in small onions.

No problem early in life,24 hour light for first 7-8 weeks is standard practice in the UK.

Works good for me.Last year had one 8 pounds. You need the full day light when they are bulbing in Late May,June and early July. The ones I planted later were smaller.
