Once the flower forms a head, has most of the vertical growth come to an end? b) will cutting the head off stimulate vertical growth. Most of mine now have heads and I would like to get a few more vertical feet of growth, thanks.

The head means the end. The top of the stem will still stretch out a bit though. Cutting off the head will not help at all. The sunflower will start growing secondaries at each leaf node.

brad is right once the head has been cut off you will receive a bunch of small ones. but if you fertilize it, the flower head will get bigger But since u are gorwing for sizeExperiment. see for your self what works.
