ok I know some of you grow potatoes and I was wondering what kind you like growing the best.
I love growing Red Pontiac it is a mid season red potato that can get bigger than a softball and is a great tasting tuber.lightly pale red but nice to grow.
All blue is nice but the judges at the fairs go for pretty and the all blue variety has had scabes(this might be from too much calicum i put on in the spring) :(
So what do you guys think is agreat growing potato?

Kestrel, looks good, tastes good, fairly early, more blight resistant than Catriona my previous favourite. Its white with purple/blue eyes if you save your own from the most coloured you can get 33% or so of blue on it with good skin quality.

I have been doing Red Pontiac or Red Norland here the last few years. usually whatever we have left over from the previous year.
Kennebec is a decent one here, but being a white potato, the flaws might be more apparent.

I have had Yukon gold my mom loves the flavor, but couldnt find it at any nursery last yr.
I did try russian banana and it was good.
I tried Red Durango its a colorado potatoe for high elevation over 6500 but i didnt get as good of yields as Red Pontiac.

if only the size of the plant had a bearing on the size of the potato i would have spuds the size of footballs

I like Kennebecs myself. I've grown it for the last 6 years. I usually get a great yeild with good taste.

Another vote for Yukon Gold. Best potato there is. Now if someone could breed in keep-ability without messing with the flavor then it would be absolutely perfect.
besides it's almost orange like a mini-AG!
