Are the long gourds people grow competitively the same as loufahs?

Here are the names for loufah I'm wondering about from a recent article

L. cylindrica, long smooth
L. acutangula, long ridged, ribbed, or angled
L. aegyptiaca, long club-shaped
L. operculata, small round, 2 1/2 inch diameter

Noo they are not the same.. long gourds are Lagenaria ###...Luffa's are Luffa ####. So technically they could not cross if you wanted them to..Luffa are closer to cucumber
