So winter hasn't been going on all that long, but it's been in the single digits for several (getting shorter) winter day days. Screaming child at the dentist, estimated bill $1,285.00...
And lo and behold in my mailbox today lay a 'seed savers exchange' seed catalog, complete with four full pages of interesting squash to pore over! Life is good.

Brian I got a seed catalog that you'd freak about.
I spent the last month trading seeds trying to get hard to get squash, beans and other vegies.
Brian try rareseeds.com bakercreek They have a seed book that they send out. It is one of nicest free seed catalogs/books I have ever gotten. I am at over $100 and haven't made it half way lol. I have grown Iran pumpkin and its very cool to look at. Galeux is anouther cool one. Check em out you'll be happy u did.
I also have ordered from them for the past 5-6yrs and have never had a problem with any of their seeds. Great stuff
Its amazing how the simple things make us very very happy.

LOL at CCW...my Baker's Creek Heirloom Seeds (rareseeds.com) book came today!!! It is incredible...not just a catalog, but a book full of incredible heirloom & rare seeds, from a family dedicated to growing organic, and pure seed lines...be prepared for a bit of a political bent against any genetically altered seeds...they call them GMO (Franken) seeds!!! LOL Great source for heirloom seeds!!! Peace, Wayne

CCW I'll check it out. Actually I might have run across it online. Did they have a C.maxima that was salmon pink with bluish splotches? That one might be cool to grow. I agree the Galeux is totally fun. I grew it this year. I'll grow it again this year, and also make room for a AG X Galeux cross I did (Actually I WANT to make a Franken monstrosity lol).
Simple things really are the most satifying.
Wayne, don't get me started on anti-GMO-ites! Near as I can tell, a very promising technology has nearly been marginilized because of protectionist farming groups and Greenpeace's assumption that anti-whaling was too mainstream now and wasn't sufficient to pay their bills anymore. But of course this opinion is coming from a black-hearted plant molecular biologist who has been making 'GMO's' since 1993.
