I would get some Iron Phospate...I prefer to spray no heavy metals in the patch.

Use sluggo. It is safe for garden and pets/kids. It also does a great job in killing slugs. John

the copper will get tarnished after a while and need a scour, also dirt will splash and that reduces the effect. I have read that 2 inches is 100 % effective although some commercial sellers are offering 1 1/2" wide bands. Keep in mind that zinc will also work (think of zinc anodes on a boat..etc) I may have mentioned before but I got my copper sheet from a scrap yard- 8 inch wide strip used in large transformer windings. It was nearly 2 feet long and wanted 5 bucks but weighed it and thats fair-I'm sure he didn't pay that for it.If you do a search, companies selling little strips are maybe 3 for 10 bucks or so, only a couple inches long. Long and the short of it,it is 100% effective-no maybes, and that is what counts. If you are wrapping the stem of a plant, not so costly but a whole garden bed could be expensive. I did a search for copper foil tape-it does exist but pricey as well. We just had a week of rain and the slugs were everywheres-except those plants whose stems had a copper band around them.
