It had been two weeks since my tater plants died back so I harvested my potatoes. I didn't think it was going to do well since I put it in dirt cheap top soil, and baggged manure, and some peat moss, with a little coffee grounds. Sure enough I harvested 15-20 ish lbs of tater and they are good. I gave the neighbors 5lbs in total. One was really happy because he was irish, and never had any luck growing them. I used the tater tower method this year. Most of the potatoes where grouped a few inches higher than where the seed potatoe was. The thing that was best about the tower was I just had to take one wall out and remove some dirt.

glad to hear they did good. now that you have all those fresh potatoes you can try making potato chips with some of them (unless they are sweet potatoes). what i do is cut them as thin as I can and cover the bottom of a skillet with one layer of slices and put in just enough vegetable oil to barely cover them. I then sprinkle in chopped bits of onion an green tomatoes for added flavor (could be just onion but I like a little bit of green tomato along with it). I found the chips tend to taste a little bland without at least some onion added to the skillet. cook over medium heat. Every few minutes when the oil is sizzling flip over all the slices to make sure both sides get cooked some. Once they start to stiffen and start showing the first sign of browning they're done. put them on a plate with paper towels on it (to absorb excess oil), then while they are still oily sprinkle some garlic salt on them (or powder, I like the salt better). then, enjoy! just don't eat a too much of them, they'll make you sick quicker than the store bought kind. :) I'd say probably a handful at a time is good.
